Features and types of science fiction genre

Distinguish different types of science fiction from each other quite easily. For example, fantasy contains elements of magic and magic, but science fiction should be based on the scientific or technical aspect. Although in fantasy there are also fantastic events, they can be in no way related to the laws of physics, for example. But in science fiction – this is a key distinguishing feature.

It is believed that science fiction as a literary genre appeared as a result of the industrial revolution of the XIX century. At the origins of the direction put Jules Verne, Herbert Wells and other writers. And Mary Shelley’s book “Frankenstein” is generally called the first science fiction work. Note that this genre is not only fantasies of the author on the theme of space, technology, robots. There is also a social science fiction direction of works, where the question of society and the future of mankind is raised. And here post-apocalyptic books tell about the variants of what is happening during or after universal catastrophes. Such novels are quite easy to confuse with dystopias.
